This brought back fond memories. When I was very young we lived with my grandparents – in the front yard there were three very large lilac bushes side by side in the front yard. I don’t remember ever crawling under them but I am certain they would have offered the peaceful and safe feeling you describe. :)

The lilac was very old and had not been pruned properly causing all the center branches to die and rot away. This left a soft spot to sit that was comfy, hidden . .
