Here we sit ..

We’re in the middle of a worsening pandemic..
It’s a struggle to get residents to pay their lot rents..
But..
We’re working hard at turning this humble mobile home park around!

We fixed the water leaks as requested by the city..
We’ve cleaned up the park remarkably since taking over management a little over a year ago! The park was almost literally wall to wall trash. Now it’s a beautiful place to live.
Because we’ve been giving away almost all our homes then only charging a minimal $300/month lot rent we’ve been able to house many who would’ve otherwise been homeless. We’re offering those down on their luck the opportunity of home ownership, stability and a caring community.
Our park is quiet and safe. Our kids can ride their bikes and play outside without worry.
But…
We’ve fallen behind on the water bill.
When I took over as manager there were some serious water leaks.. so many. One at a time we fixed these. Then we began to walk the park looking for more. All we found we fixed as quickly as possible.
We can begin paying on the water bill, we simply don’t have $10,000 as a down payment.
Still, even after all of this..
The City of Toledo plans to shut off our water on February 2, 2021.
One of our residents told me he was told, by Lucas County Health Department officials that the water would be turned off on February 2nd then that gentleman would go around and board up all the trailers that day..
Wow, really? π
Creekside Village MHP has:
** 11 children (including 1 in autism highschool) and a 1 month old baby.
** senior citizens
** children on SSD
** adults on SSD
We are in a seriously worsening pandemic. How can it possibly be legal to shut off the water to homes right now?!
